Sammy J. Welch , age 79 of LaVergne, TN, passed away Wednesday December 26, 2018. A native of Crossville, TN, he was the son of the late Grady Curtis and Lois Gwendolyn Duvall Welch Muesing. Mr. Welch was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gaines and Jimmy Welch and by a sister, Shelia Brimm.

Mr. Welch is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean Miller Welch; son, Stephen Craig Welch and his wife Deanna of LaVergne, TN; daughter, Cynthia Gwen England and her husband Joey of White Bluff, TN; brothers, Jerry Welch of Crossville, TN, Ernie Welch of Ashland City, TN, and Grady Welch of Crossville, TN; sister, Virginia Hendrix of Smyrna, TN; seven grandchildren, Sammy, Tori, Reid, T. J. and Miranda Welch, Elisabeth and Samantha England; 2 great-grandchildren, Bayleigh and Kinsley Welch.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with military honors. Pastor Stephen Marcum will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Welch was a member of the LaVergne Free Will Baptist Church, a US Air Force veteran, and was retired from Whirlpool.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, Murfreesboro, in memory of Mr. Welch.
