Michael David Porter , age 69 of Beechgrove, TN, passed away Friday February 9, 2018. A native of Athens, OH, he was preceded in death by his father, John Porter.

Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Ruby Jean Abner Porter of Beechgrove, TN; mother, Bobbie Tolliver Porter Liggett; step-father, Richard Lee Liggett both of Reynoldsburg, OH; daughter, Velinda Walters and her husband Roger of Beechgrove, TN; brother, Paul Liggett and his wife Linda J. of Utica, OH; sister, Teresa R. Miller and her husband David of Gahanna, OH; and three grandchildren, Jeanne Travis of Beechgrove, TN, Lora Cawood Bell of Murfreesboro, TN, and Joe Walters of Beechgrove, TN; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Graveside service with military honors will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN, with Rev. Edgar Boles officiating.

Mr. Porter was a US Army veteran, a Life member of the VFW Post 8422 in Smyrna, TN, and an airplane mechanic.
