Mr. Jimmy Vincent Thompson, age 83, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016. He is the husband of the late Rebecca Hall Thompson and and the son of the late Chester and Gladis Craig Thompson.

Graveside services for Mr. Thompson will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Sliger; two sons, John A. Thompson and Bill Thompson; a step-daughter, Robin Shumate and her husband Jimmy of Smyrna; and two grandchildren, Kayleigh and Julia.

Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the army where he served in the Korean War and received many medals including the Army Occupation Medal, Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. Jimmy was a 9th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate. He also was a bodyguard for Elvis Presley and a hand to hand combat instructor for police departments.
