Jimmie R. Cowan , age 91 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Saturday August 18, 2018. A native of Lebanon, TN, she was the daughter of the late Effie Dell and Linsley Ramsay Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Clifton A. "Cliff" Cowan, and a brother and sister in law, Floyd and Bertha Smith.

Mrs. Cowan is survived by her daughter, Regina Shew and her husband Mike; son, Roger Cowan and his wife Connie all of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Julie (Thomas) Burnum of Fayetteville, TN, Aaron (Natalie) Shew of Fayetteville, AR, Josh (Kate) Shew and Caleb Shew of Murfreesboro, TN, Jessica (Mike) Novak of Murfreesboro, TN, and Emily (Brandon) Whitsett of Murfreesbro, TN; seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Adam Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with grandsons, great-grandsons, and grandsons-in-law serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class of Belle Aire Baptist Church.

Mrs. Cowan was owner and operator of Ruby's Dress Shop for 45 years before her retirement. She was a faithful member of Belle Aire Baptist Church.
