Mr. James "Jim" A. Ridley, IV, age 84, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017. He was born in Murfreesboro to the late James A., III and Olive White Ridley. Mr. Ridley received his master's degree from MTSU and was a retired art teacher. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, a founder of The Murfreesboro Little Theatre, past board member of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities, and former President of the Oaklands Association. Mr. Ridley proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Army.
Mr. Ridley is survived by his son, Read William Ridley of Murfreesboro; daughter-in-law, Alicia Adkerson Ridley of Nashville; two grandchildren, Katharine Dillon Ridley and James Allison Ridley, VI; and numerous cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Dillon Ridley, and a son, James A. Ridley, V.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 14, 2017 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. Dr. Noel Schoonmaker and family will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Ridley asked that donations be made to either the Jim Ridley Memorial Scholarship at MTSU or to Oaklands Mansion.
