Ellis "Jipper" Black , age 75 of the Silver Hill community, passed away Thursday July 5, 2018. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Marcus and Lola Nickens Black. Mr. Black was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest, Martin, and John Leslie Black.

Mr. Black is survived by his daughter, Jill Turner and her husband Scott of Lascassas, TN; sons, Jack Black and his wife Katy of Lascassas, TN, and Joey Black and his wife Skyla of the Silver Hill community; brothers, Wesley and Howard Black both of the Silver Hill community, and Kenneth Black of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters, Helen Brown of Lascassas, TN, Lorene Elrod of Murfreesboro, TN, and Margaret Welker of the Silver Hill community; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday July 7, 2018 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday July 8, 2018 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. Will Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Drenan Cemetery in the Silver Hill community, with Scott Turner, Dalton Black, Darren Welker, Shane Brown, Charlie Alsup, Harry Nickens, Larry and Chase Garrison serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley, Kenneth, Howard, Wayne, and Mike Black, and John Welker.

Mr. Black was a retired supervisor with the Rutherford County Solid Waste Department.
