Edgar "Ed" Lee Hyden, born July 29, 1932 in Kingston, W. Va. to Sam and Goldie Hyden, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Arbuhlace White, Vievia Hyden, one brother, Robert "RL" Hyden, several nieces, nephews, and loving cousin Etta "Sis" Weeks.
Ed is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Hyden; son Ricky L. Hyden; three daughters, Robin (Tony) Eddie, Lisa (David) Stem, Luci (David) Fox; six grandchildren, Ricky E. Hyden, Jamie (Kristie) Hyden, Brad (Jill) Stem, Kyle (Chasity) Phillips, Mitchell Stem, and Karissa (Chase) Cagle; nine great-grandchildren, Tamara Wallace, Ty and Benjamin Hyden, Blake Musick, Jonathan Stem, Alan and Samantha Kuss, Brandon Pittard, Kennedy Phillips, Kynleigh Randolph, and Chase Cagle Jr. He was also survived by three great-great-grandchildren.
Ed entered into the United States Air Force on June 14th, 1952. He came to Murfreesboro in December of 1955 after being overseas and was stationed at Sewart Air Force Base in Smyrna, TN until June 14th, 1962.
After being discharged, Ed spent 50 years owning several businesses for himself in Murfreesboro, TN. His first business was started in June of 1962 by opening an Exxon Station on Broad Street. He was the first Datsun Dealership in town in 1967. Later he opened a rebuilt alternator and starter business until his retirement.
Edgar enjoyed racing cars in the early '60s at Smyrna Race Track. He also enjoyed raising live stock, driving the school bus, watching Nascar and football. Ed loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Ed will be from 4PM – 8PM, Monday, January 23, 2017. Funeral service will be at 1PM Tuesday, January 24, 2017 all at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Cothran Cemetery. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
