June 27, 1935 – October 15, 2018
Alford Thomas Fann, age 83 of Smyrna, Tennessee went to meet his Savior on October 15, 2018. Alford was the most loving, caring, kindest, honest husband, father, grandfather and true friend to all who knew him. He was a deacon and trustee at Smyrna Church of Christ where he was a member for 53 years. And Alford loved spending time traveling to attend his granddaughters' athletic events. He enjoyed playing golf with his golfing buddies and planting his garden. He served in the US Army and was a graduate of MTSU. He retired from the Town of Smyrna where he won various awards while employed as the Manager of Codes and Building Official for the Town of Smyrna including the 97-98 MTCOA Code Official of the Year and the 2002 State of Tennessee Building Official of the year.
Alford was preceded in death by his father Hardy Franklin Fann, mother Allie Mae Merritt Fann, brother John Franklin Fann and sister Joann Fann Anderson. He was survived by his loving wife of 63 years Doris Jean Gannon Fann, daughter Michelle (Jeff) Burroughs of Lebanon, granddaughters Laurel Burroughs and Ali Burroughs, brother Davis (Denise) Fann, sister Helen Fann Tillman, brother-in law Ralph (Carolyn) Gannon, sisters-in-law Paulette Gannon Naron and Nancy Gannon Burnett, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Smyrna Church of Christ. A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Friday at Smyrna Church of Christ with Brother Tim Lavender officiating. A private family burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens
The family wants to give a big thank you to all our angels on earth who have been so kind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Smyrna Church of Christ Honduras Mission Fund in memory of Alford Fann.
