Myrtis O. Mathews, age 93, of Columbia, who lived many years in the Nashville area, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017. She was a native of Lakeland, FL and the daughter of the late Johnnie and Leila Lee Sumner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John W. Mathews, Jr., son, John Timothy Mathews, siblings, Russell Sumner, J. D. Sumner and Bernice Sumner Thompson.

Funeral service will be 11:00am Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Mike Coupe will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Mathews is survived by her son, Dale Mathews of Old Hickory, TN, daughters, Linda Kirk of Atlanta, GA, Beverly Coupe of Columbia, TN, grandchildren, Kristen Kirk Cooper, Madison Edward Mathews, Chelsea Lee Coupe, MaKennah Bree Mathews Wharton, Cassie Nicole Coupe Gray, Carrie Noel Coupe, great grandchildren, Jackson, Chloe and Lucas Cooper.
