February 22, 1921 – September 18, 2016
Mr. Winfred Cooper, age 95, of Murfreesboro, passed away September 18, 2016. He was a native of the Milton and Auburntown communities, and son of the late Adrain and Katherine Summar Cooper. Funeral services will be Thursday at 3:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bro. W.D. Thomason and Bro. Jerry Howard officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Juanita Webb Cooper; sisters-in-law, Peggy Bugg and husband Ben of Murfreesboro, Patricia Abdouch and husband John of Brentwood, Melanie Davis of Manchester, Judy Howse and husband John of Murfreesboro; brother-in-law, Don Webb and wife Lou Ann of Smyrna; and 24 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucy Hancock and husband Carl Edward, Gwen Turney and husband Tommy, Carmine Stephens and husband James, Jessie Harris and husband Clarence, Mai Fair King and husband Robert, Maude Willard and husband James Bethel; brothers, Giles Cooper and wife Drucey, Roy Cooper and wife Rowena, and Linsey Cooper; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Webb.
Mr. Cooper was a member of Mt Hermon Baptist Church and was retired from the Alvin C. York VA Hospital. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #18 of Murfreesboro for over 50 years and was an Al Menah Shriner. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an outgoing gentleman who loved his church and loved people.
Pallbearers will be Roy Bond, Buddy Pearcy, Ron Martin, Tommy Carter, Bill Pitts, Johnny Howse, Don Webb, Bill Lee, Doug Snead, David Farthing, and Eddie Jernigan. The family thanks the remarkably loving caregivers who brought joy to his life: Bonnie Tucker, Mary McDougal, Libby Mears, and Denise Boyce.
