Mrs. Willie Lera Higdon, age 98, of Smyrna, TN passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014. A native of Rutherford County she was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Allen and Vera Ross Lannom; husband, Luther B. Higdon; son, Alton Wade Barrett; brother, Thomas Lannom; and sister, Essie Averett. Mrs. Higdon is survived by her son, Leslie P. Barrett of Smyrna; grandchildren, Joan Anderson, Sam Allen Barrett and his wife "Nette", Toni Barrett, Christy Barrett, Debbie Barrett, Sandy Brinkman, Lori Higdon and Dean Higdon; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Higdon was a member of Giles Creek Baptist Church. Memorials can be made to the Giles Creek Baptist Building Fund. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Brother Terry Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow in Mullins Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Church members will serve as pallbearers.
