WILLIAM WHITSITT, age 77 of Smyrna died August 18, 2009. He was a native of Illinois and was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Clara Ude Whitsitt; sister, Elizabeth Bratton; brothers, Chester, Lester, Hubert, and Kenneth Whitsitt. Mr. Whitsitt was a member of Smyrna First Free Methodist Church and retired minister. He worked for Oral Roberts Ministry and Salvation Army as Planned Giving Director. Mr. Whitsitt was a Korean War Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deloris Whitsitt; children, Jeff (Carolyn) Whitsitt of Nashville, and Debbie (Jim) Grantham of Smyrna; grandchildren, Teressa (Don) Shrout, and Shawn Edwards both of Smyrna; great-grandchildren, Madison, Whitsitt, and Riley Shrout, Samantha South, and Jordon Edwards; sister, Frances Whetstone of Illinois, Jennie Lamont of Florida; brother, John Whitsitt of Kansas. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Private funeral services will be Thursday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Ricky Reed officiating.
