William "Bill" Lee Scott, died on Wednesday May 15, 2013 at his home while surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Scott was born January 26, 1932 to Robert and Ruby Sandlin Scott in DeKalb County, Tennessee. Mr. Scott enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He met his wife, Edna, while stationed in Burtonwood, England. Mr. Scott retired from the Air Force in 1971 while stationed in Warner Robbins, Georgia. He and his family moved back to Murfreesboro where he accepted a position with Hardee's and later he accepted a position with the Veterans Administration Hospital. Bill continued to work for the VA until he retired in 1995. Soccer was one of Mr. Scott's lifelong loves. He helped to start the soccer program at Oakland High School and became their first coach. Mr. Scott was a member of the Burtwood Association, the St. Rose Bocce Club, and also a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mr. Scott is preceded in death by his parents; R.W. and Ruby Scott, his brother Ralph and Robert James Scott; his sister, Marjorie Nye. Mr. Scott is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna O'Neill Scott; his daughters Lorraine Perry and her husband Rick, Janeita and her husband Ricky Gannon; granddaughter April Kelley Southers; and great granddaughter Reagan Southers. The family would like to thank Caris Healthcare for their exceptional care. They would also like to ask that memorials be made in Mr. Scott's honor to either Caris Healthcare or St. Rose Pre-School. Funeral service will be 11:00am Saturday at St. Rose-Lima Catholic Church; 1601 North Tennessee Boulevard, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Father Jacob Dio will officiate Burial with full military honors will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00pm Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
