William Henry Rhodabarger, age 87, of Murfreesboro passed away Friday, May 10, 2013. A native of Martins Ferry, OH, he was a long-time resident of Akron, OH. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00AM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Pastor Stefanie Hendrickson and Pastor Mike Rhodabarger will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Rhodabarger is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alice Unterzuber Rhodabarger; sons, Robert Lee Rhodabarger and his wife Sharon of Bay City, MI, William David Rhodabarger and his wife Rita of Effingham, IL; daughter, Sherrilyn Pack and her husband Stanley of Milton, TN; sister, Marjorie Venetta Taylor of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Don, Mike and Ben Rhodabarger, Robert Pack, Stefanie Hendrickson and Elizabeth Rhodabarger; 13 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rhodabarger was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leondias Rhodabarger and Venetta Drummond Rhodabarger. Mr. Rhodabarger was a member of Murfreesboro First Church of the Nazarene. He served in the United States Marine Corps 1st Division during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and was a battle veteran of the Palau Islands and fight for Okinawa. He then participated in the Occupation of China after the war. Mr. Rhodabarger retired as a plant supervisor with Ohio Edison Electric. He was a past scout master with the Boy Scouts Troop 61 in Akron, OH and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening and watching baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians. Mr. Rhodabarger was a loving, giving and sharing man. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
