William James Montgomery, age 87 of Lavegrne, died Friday, April 13, 2012. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Joe Ramsey and Evie McGowen Montgomery. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jo Dean Hunter Montgomery, sister, Mai Murphy, brothers, Joe and Raymond Montgomery. Funeral service will be 11:00am Monday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Steve Perigo will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Montgomery of Beech Grove, daughter and devoted son-in-law, Judy and John Ellis of Lavergne, brothers, Howard (Frances) Montgomery of Smyrna, Thurman Montgomery of Lavergne, sister, Eva (Benny) Sumrall of Smyrna, grandchildren, Vicki Simmons, Bryan Montgomery, Christy (Jason) Smith, Amy (Jamie) Hobdy, Wesley (Dawn) Montgomery, 8 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Jared Smith, Jamie Hobdy, Cory Jenssen, Wesley Montgomery, and Grant Simmons. Honorary pallbearer will be Devin Hobdy. Mr. Montgomery was a member of Miracle Baptist Church, a US Navy veteran, and retired from AVCO as an inspector.
