William Alexander McKinney III, age 81 of Lascassas died Monday October 30, 2023. He was a native of Charleston SC and was preceded in death by his son, Michael Edmiston; parents, William Alexander McKinney, Jr., and Sarah Knight; brother-in-law, Tom Woods.

Mr. McKinney was Veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam. After his time in the Army, he served in the Tennessee Air National Guard for 20 years. Along with the service to his county he was a purchasing agent with Nissan in Smyrna.

Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife of 40 years, Charlotte McKinney. Children; Shawn McKinney Swetmon (David), Lee Whitney McKinney, and Traci Welchance (Scott).  Siblings; Charles McKinney (Donna), Robert "Bobby"  McKinney, Susan Sain (Jerry), Sally Sweatt (David). Grandchildren; Katherine Reese Swetmon, Zivu Lucas, Inanna Lucas, Austen Welchance, Jameson Edmiston and Hailey Edmiston (Jacob Lindsey). Great-grandchildren; Maria, Austen, Martalynn, Stella and Brooks.

Bill had a zest for life.  If it was fly fishing, cars, playing the guitar he was thrilled to share his enthusiasm for his favorite past times.  His military service of over 20 years proved his great love and passion for his country. And those who knew him well could attest to how much he loved his cat, Mutt.
