William Robert Mason, Sr., age 85 of Smyrna, TN, passed away Tuesday July 23, 2013. A native of Steubenville, OH, he was the son of the late Charles Thomas and Elizabeth Barrett Mason. Mr. Mason was also preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Copfer Mason who died in 2010. Mr. Mason is survived by his children, Billy Mason, Jr., Laura Mason Rhodes and her husband David, and David Mason and his wife Lana all of Smyrna, TN; four grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna, with Eddie Slaubaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and US Coast Guard Auxiliary serving as pallbearers. Mr. Mason was a member of the Catholic Church, served in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, and a retired security guard. He was also a big band drummer, singer, and was an avid photographer. Mr. Mason was a White House staff photographer during the Nixon Administration. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday at WOODFIN CHAPEL, SMYRNA. 459-3254.
