WILLIAM JOSEPH JOEY WOODRUFF, age 48, of Shelbyville died Monday, July 6, 2009. He was a native of Christiana. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bro. Darryl Lewis and Bro. Billy Patton will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodfin Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Campbell Woodruff, daughter, Rachel Woodruff of Houston, TX, father, Thomas C. Jack Woodruff of Christiana, brother, Carter (Marvene) Woodruff of Christiana, step daughter, Gina (Russell) Molder of Shelbyville, step son, Wade (Kristy) Campbell of Shelbyville, grandchildren, Colton and Taylor Molder, nieces, Marianna and Elizabeth Woodruff. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Harris Woodruff. Joey was an active member of the Fosterville Church of Christ, serving as a teacher and in other capacities. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as Captain with the Military Police based at Anniston, AL. He was a 1978 graduate of Riverdale High School and received his BS and Masters Degree in Criminal Justice at MTSU. He was currently manager of the sporting goods department at Walmart in Shelbyville. He was formerly employed at Holden Hardware in Murfreesboro. Joey loved the outdoors being an avid hunter and fisherman, and farmer as well. He loved local and family history, and was an active member of the Rutherford County Historical Society. He was creative as a carver, artist, furniture maker, and restored many old log houses and buildings in the area. Joey deeply loved his family and friends and will be sorely missed by all. Active pallbearers will be Doyle Hayes, Chris Hillis, Wade Campbell, Russell Molder, Craig Lynch, Tony Helton, Steve Holden, Danny Rigney, Rick Williams, Billy Helton, and Leslie Jones.
