William R. Edwards, age 71, of Murfreesboro, TN, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. A native of Nashville, TN, he was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Curtis and Virginia Russell Edwards.
A private burial will take place in Rock Springs, GA at a later date.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his children, William Jonathan Edwards Scott and his wife Brooke, and Julianne Edwards Burgess and her husband Tommy; grandchildren, Noah Scott, Shelby Scott, Luke Scott, Lara Dudiak, Nicholas Dudiak, Thomas Burgess and Jared Scott, all of Murfreesboro; brother, Bob Edwards and his wife Sherry of Orlando, FL; and sisters, Maggie Mullis and her husband Cecil of Kennesaw, GA, and Sandy Porter and her husband Glen of Hermitage, TN.
Bill was an accomplished pilot and businessman. He was known for his charter air services in both Atlanta, GA and Nashville, TN. Having served in the U.S. Marines, he prided himself in U.S. Aviation history and the ownership and flight of Warbirds from the World War II era. Among his greatest accomplishments were his many life flight flights to deliver donor organs and his love for pushing the ceiling heights (51,000 ft.) in his Lear Jets just to prove they would reach the limits of their ratings. He and his stories will be greatly missed.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Edwards may be made to the Beechcraft Heritage Museum at 570 Old Shelbyville Hwy, Tullahoma, TN 37388.
