Obituary

William A. (Bill) Cox, age 88, of Auburntown, TN passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at NHC. Formerly of Orlando, FL, Bill was born on February 18, 1926 in Ft. Pierce, FL. He was the son of the late Coy Albert Cox and Myrtle Childers Cox. He was predeceased by sons Richard Albert Cox and Geoffrey Edward Cox and by a brother, Robert Cox. He is survived by his wife, Aerolene Ison Cox of Auburntown; a daughter, Renee H. Beiser (Geoffrey) of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandchildren Christopher Walker (Lynn) of South Orange, NJ; Jason Beiser (Alpana) of Ft. Pierce, FL; Tonya Cox Nimnicht (Garrett) of East Palatka, FL; and Michael C. Cox of Orlando, FL; and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, James M. Cox of Amite, LA, and sisters Carolyn Moon of Atlanta, GA and Nancy Duzyk of Orlando, FL. Bill graduated from Apopka High School in Apopka, FL and served in the US Navy during World War II. He received his degree in Architecture and Architectural Engeering in 1957. Bill lived in Orlando, FL for 39 years where he was an architect and owner of Cox Associates. He designed and supervised the construction of many churches, schools and office buildings in Florida and throughout the southeast. In addition to being a licensed architect, Bill was a neuclear roofing and construction analysist who did work for private companies as well as the Federal Government. He also owned and operated a marine store in Ft. Pierce, FL for five years. Upon retirement, Bill and his wife moved to Tennessee where they farmed and raised beefalo cattle and llamas. Bill was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry as Junior and Senior Warden, in addition to overseeing the construction of the new worship space. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcipal Church on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Polk VanZandt and the Rev. Collin Ambrose officiating. A reception will follow the service in St. Andrews Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Building Fund.
