William B. Coleman, age 88, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed Wednesday, May 16, 2012. A native of Smyrna, TN, he was the son of the late David E. and Lillian Carter Coleman. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Howard Coleman, Thelma Davis, Ann Sanford, Silas Coleman, and Irma Jean Davenport. Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Russell Coleman; children, Patty (Ed) Wiley of Memphis, David (Pam) Coleman of Germantown, and Caroline (Carl) Ott of Murfreesboro; and his grandchildren, Ben, Jane, and Rebecca Wiley; Kristin (Walker) Gibson, Jonathan, and James Coleman; Coleman and Connor Ott. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at St. Marks United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Clardy, Rev. Susan Padgett, and Dr. Craig Goff officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at St. Marks United Methodist Church from 9:00 A.M. until time of service. Pallbearers will be nephews, Ed Davenport, Gray Sanford, Rick Wise, Bill Davis, Charles Chuck Clark, Rob Thomson, and Coleman Wise. Mr. Coleman, a graduate of the University of Tennessee and employed by the Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation for forty years, was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. Mr. Coleman served on the Murfreesboro City Planning Commission for 20 years and the Murfreesboro Board of Appeals for 20 years. He served as treasurer of the Tennessee Credit Union League. Mr. Coleman was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and participated in the Normandy campaign crossing France and Germany until the war concluded. He was a charter member and past president of the Exchange Club of Murfreesboro and remained very active in the Exchange Club since 1951. He also carried Meals on Wheels for many years.
