Obituary

William Alan Hall, 64, beloved and loving husband, father and grandfather, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2023.

A native of Murfreesboro and resident of Lascassas, he graduated Oakland High School in 1976 and worked in post-production video editing in Nashville. He later became a photographer, a gardener, a farmer and a home renovator.

He was the sum of many unique parts: his mother was a painter; his father was an Army veteran, postal worker and farmer; and three older sisters who doted on their baby brother.

He met the love of his life, Linda, at a pizza restaurant and they were married for 43 years. He convinced the Baltimore native to move to the South and raise a family with him on a cattle farm. They had two individually different, but otherwise good kids, Jeremy Hall and Kristin Hall.

He was nicknamed "More Daddy" by his granddaughter Abigail, which stuck for good when his other granddaughters Harper and Taylor came along.

He was a southpaw whose handwriting and spelling was atrocious, but who had a keen eye for details. Because he was surrounded by strong women (see above), he was the unofficial photographer of Girl Scout camps in Rutherford County, but also a Boy Scout leader. He was a fan of campy horror films, Hawaiian shirts, vinyl records, audiobooks, Honda cars and a good cup of coffee.

He was by profession a night owl, but he loved to capture a great sunrise on the farm or a late afternoon waterfall on his camera.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Golas Hall; son and daughter in law Jeremy and Rachel Hall; daughter and son in law Kristin Hall and Lonnie Wilkerson; and grandchildren Abigail and Taylor Hall and Harper Wilkerson; sisters Carole Willis, Marsha Lynch and Claudia Duke.

He is preceded in death by his father, William D. Hall and mother Imogene Hall, and his nephew Michael Heath.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 9 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral service will be 10 am Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
