Willard L. Childers, Sr. age 78 of LaVergne, TN, died Saturday March 10, 2012. A native of Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late Jesse and Gladys Childers Couch. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Childers. Mr. Childers is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Gibson Childers; sons, Larry Childers of Huntsville, AL, Orville Childers and Willard Childers, Jr., both of Doyle, TN; daughters, Karen Roberts of Peru, IN and Cathy Childers of LaVergne, TN; sisters, Bessie Slusher of Lexington, KY, and Blanche Johnson of Hazard, KY; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel, Smyrna with Brother Ron Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mr. Childers was of the Baptist faith and a retired construction worker.
