Obituary

Rev. Wendell W. Price, age 91, of Murfreesboro, died April 19, 2011 at Southern Hills Hospital. Rev. Price was a native of De Kalb County and son of the late Perry W. and Ferol Williams Price. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Tony Long will officiate. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Price is survived by his wife, Cora Wrather Price; sons and daughters in law, Tony and Beth Price of Franklin and Roger and Paula Price of Virginia; daughter and son in law, Kaye and Bill Schneider of Smyrna; brother and sister in law, H. Hoyte and Robbie Price of North Carolina; sister and brother in law, Ruth and Jim Baker of Sevierville; four grandchildren and two great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Phillips Price and sister, Lennis R. Johnson. Rev. Price was a retired minister and was a member of Crossway Baptist Church. He was called to serve the Lord in 1941. He received his BA degree from Cumberland University, his BD degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his MA degree from Peabody of Vanderbilt. He received his M DIV from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Master Builder Diploma from BSSB of Nashville. He worked at the TN Baptist Convention from 1965-1985 and was an expert on Adult Work-teaching and reaching and was head of the Sunday School Dept. for 17 years. Rev. Price had pastored Bartons Creek Baptist Church in Wilson County, Third Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, First Baptist Church in Crossville, First Baptist Church in Winchester, and Oak Lawn Baptist Church in Winchester. He served as Minister of Education at Second Baptist Church in Knoxville, Interim Director of Missions and Interim Director of Education in Knox County. Rev. Price retired in 1991 and moved back to Murfreesboro in 1992. Lance and Byron Schneider and Clay and Drew Price will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Crossway Baptist Church Building Fund in Murfreesboro. 893-5151
