W. E. Wood age 85 of Smyrna, TN died Tuesday November 8, 2011. Born February 10, 1926 he was the eleventh child of the late W. D. and Lillian Mullins Wood. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Puryear. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 65 years, Estelle Lee Wood; daughter, Marsha (Doug) Paul; son, Clete Wood; son-in-law, Carl Puryear; grandsons, J. D. and Steve Paul, Jason and Dan Puryear; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Stone and numerous relatives. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna with Bro. Everette Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Dan Puryear, J. D and Steve Paul, Charles King, Randy Wood, Clarence Stone, Robert Gossett and Pete Strickler serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Ironworkers Local Union 492, John R. Lee, Jr. J. W. Gossett, and Jesse Williams. Mr. Wood was a member and Elder of Rock Springs Church of Christ and a retired Ironworker.
