Virginia Belle Travis

Mrs. Virginia Belle Travis, age 83, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026. Born and raised in Murfreesboro, she was the daughter of the late James W. Smith and Loudelia Blankenship. She is also preceded in death by husband, Charles “Frank” F. Travis Jr. and her sisters, Margaret Brandon and Rebecca “Becky” Davis, and her step-mother, Sara Newman Smith.

Virginia was member of Mt. Tabor Cumberland Presbyterian Church and retired from Homer Pittard Campus School after working there for 40 years. She was also a long-time adjunct professor at Middle Tennessee State University. Virginia was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an International Society whose members are outstanding Women Educators. She enjoyed traveling with her Lolligagger friends.

She is survived by her son, Charles F. Travis III and his wife Angela, and her grandchildren, Charles F. Travis IV, and Daniel B. Travis.

In lieu of flowers memorials to be made to Alive Hospice or Mt. Tabor Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Visitation with the family will be held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM with memorial service beginning at 2:30 PM. Lisa Oliver will be officiating.

Cremation is under the direction of Woodfin Memorial Chapels.
