Obituary

VIRGINIA HUNT CUNNINGHAM (TASSEY) BRANNON of Rockvale, passed from this earth into her heavenly home at the age of 90. She was the daughter of the late John and Bertha Shelton Cunningham. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Rockvale Church of Christ with Robert Vick and Shane Merritt officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Brannon is survived by her faithful husband of 60 years Thomas Edwin Brannon, daughter Judy Faye (Roy) Robinson of Rockvale, and son Ronnie Gayle (Joyce) Tassey of Mobile, AL., her 5 grandchildren Cindy (Keith) Vick, Lisa (John) Wisener, Corey (Melinda) Tassey, Robbin (Keith) Elrod, and Carrie Tassey Hosford. She was blessed with 9 great grandchildren,3 great great grandchildren, and five nieces and one nephew. Mrs. Brannon was preceded in death by her first husband Dudley Tassey,and four sisters Daisy Parker, Irene Jacobs, Leo Knox and Clyda Perkins. She leaves behind countless friends and neighbors and church members who loved her dearly and simply called her Granny . Mrs. Brannon was best known for her active but quiet role at Rockvale Church of Christ for close to 60 years. She was most at home when giving to and serving others, whether it was crocheted gifts, food, money or produce from the garden. She maintained an active card-writing ministry until her final days. She taught children to memorize the Bible and to praise the Lord in Sunday school and in many Vacation Bible Schools. At home she was constantly cooking, cleaning, canning and freezing, and often babysat her grandchildren. She was very creative and handed down countless handmade items and crafts. She worked at the Middle Tennessee Christian School in the late 1960s and at Penneys Department store at Christmastime. She was a gentle, quiet servant to the church, her family and her community. Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Rockvale Church of Christ on Highway 99. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Generations, Odyssey, and Northside Health Care in Murfreesboro for the countless hours of attention and deeds of kindness that were shown over the past 2 years, especially in her final days. She loved you all very much and tried to show it as long as she was able.
