Virginia Shipp, age 87, of Murfreesboro, died July 24, 2015. She was born in Norene, Tennessee and was a daughter of the late William Murfee and Jennie Wilson Lane Gannon, Sr. She was also preceded by her husband William Hodge Shipp and by brothers, William, Doyle, Roy, and Lynn Gannon and her sisters, Gladys Riley, Thelma Cottrell, Edna Forbes, and Patricia Reed. Survivors include her sons, Robert Barry Shipp and his wife Melanie of Murfreesboro and William Stephen Shipp and his wife Rose of Nashville; three grandchildren, Lisa Kimbrough of Nashville, Jonathon Parker Shipp of Franklin, and Elizabeth Johnson Shipp of Dallas, TX; and one great grandson, Charley Gray Kimbrough. Mrs. Shipp was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, the Oaklands Historic House Association and she retired from State Farm after 38 years of service. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Shipp to First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, 200 E.
