Vidya Devi Saraswat , age 89, October 1, 1926 to January 4, 2016

Mrs. Saraswat was highly thought of and was surrounded by a large and loving family. She was always smiling despite any challenges and was free with her blessings for everyone who visited her. Despite all of the odds, she began her life in India, where she helped all of her children become educated, successful and make the journey to the United States where her family has prospered. She began in New York coming from India almost 40 years ago and eventually lived in Florida and then Murfreesboro with her family. She commanded great respect within the family and community through love, guidance, and blessings. Mrs. Saraswat valued family above all. She loved singing at religious functions, and all family occasions. She was married for 72 years to Prem Shanker Sharma. The entire family called her "Ammaji" out of respect and great love. She even ventured to dance at her grandson's wedding at the age of 88. She is survived by her husband, and a large family of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who are located here in Tennessee and all over the country.

Viewing will be held at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro, TN from 5-7 pm Monday, January 4, 2016. Service will be 11:00 am Tuesday January 5, 2016 with cremation to follow at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
