Vernon D. Reames, age 82, of Murfreesboro, TN went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20th, 2015. A native of Gravel Ridge, AR and long-time resident of Searcy, AR, he was the son of the late Edgar and Bertie Lee O'Guin Reames. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2:00PM at Science Hill Church of Christ. Nickey Nichols and Marion West will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service. Mr. Reames is survived by his loving wife, Viola Hampton Reames; sister, Clara Dean Reames of Searcy, AR; son, Andrew Benton and his wife Catherine of McCrae, AR; stepsons, Sam and Phillip Garcia of Searcy, AR and Keith Baker and his wife Chris of Manchester, TN; stepdaughters, Lisa English of Joy, AR, Kathy Parker and Mary Harley both of Murfreesboro; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren that he loved very much; along with many nieces and nephews. Mr. Reames was a member of Science Hill Church of Christ. He was a retired maintenance worker with the Wilbur D. Mills Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Searcy, AR. Mr. Reames favorite hobby was woodworking. He also took great pride and love in teaching bible classes. Memorials in memory of Mr. Reames can be made to the Kidney Foundation; the Diabetes Association; or to the In Search of the Lords Way ministry. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
