Verna Rae Shaw Mershon, age 79 of Murfreesboro passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015. She was a native of Portsmouth, OH and the daughter of the late Morris and Chloe Vaughters Shaw. Funeral service will be 11:00am Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Cleve Smith and Rev. Phil Leach will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Mershon is survived by her husband, Barry K. Mershon, Sr., one son, Barry K. Mershon, Jr. and his wife Kathryn of Murfreesboro, two daughters, Kimberly Smith and her husband Cleve of Lincoln, NE and Deborah Leach and her husband Phillip of Colorado Springs, CO; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mrs. Mershon was a member of Believers' Chapel, a retired executive secretary, pastor's wife and homemaker.
