Tom Harris Seat

Thomas Harris Seat age 93 of Smyrna, TN died August 23, 2026, at the Tennessee State Veterans home. He was the son of the late V.L. and Orlean Dodson Seat. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years Sue Garner Seat.

Mr. Seat is survived by his wife, Eleanor Winn Seat; two sons, Jeff Seat and his wife, Tabitha of Nashville; Roger Seat and his wife Julie of Florida; one daughter, Joy Hartsfield and her Husband Gary of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Mr. Seat was a member of Lascassas Baptist Church and a former long time member of Smyrna First Baptist and Parkway Baptist. He was a 1951 graduate of Walter Hill High School. He was a veteran who served in the USAF. He retired in 1989 from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller and delivered flowers for Tom’s florist after his retirement.

Memorial donations can be made to the International or North American mission boards via Lascassas Baptist Church. Lascassas Baptist Church missions, or to the Tennessee State Veterans home.

Visitation with the Seat family will be at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 3:00 until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna beginning at 11:00 am with Reverend Kenneth Summey officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
