Tom Harris

Mr. Thomas “Tom” Donald Harris, age 76, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026. He was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Donald and Regina Harris. Tom was a 1972 graduate of the University of Maryland College Park. He played on the football team for one season before a friend convinced him to start playing rugby instead. Tom was hooked! He became a fan of the game and his rugby buddies were his closest friends. Tom was named Most Valuable Player and was captain of the Maryland Rugby Football Club. He and his wife met in Washington, D.C. Tom’s work as an independent sales agent in telecommunications allowed the family to move to Murfreesboro. He was a lifelong Catholic and longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he coached the boys’ football and the girls’ basketball teams. Tom was also involved with the MTSU Rugby team. He was president of NASP, National Association of Sales Professionals.

Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah Kelton Harris; daughter, Sara Elizabeth Harris; sister, Jeanine Marie Majewski (Robert); nieces and nephew, Rebecca Anne Dodd (Kevin), Kyle James Perouty (Sarah), and Victoria Leigh Soellner (Matt); and cousins who were more like siblings, Dianne Zeiner, James Fox (Susie), and Donald Fox (Kathy). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an aunt, Dorothy Harris Fox (William); uncle, Adolph Schultz (Virginia); and grandmother, Ida Bennett Schultz.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 10:00am until 11:00am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
