Thomas Taylor Davis, age 61, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 . Born in Haleyville, AL on September 3, 1956 but a native of El Paso, TX, he was the son of the Leon and Imogene (Taylor) Davis.

Tom graduated from Eastwood High School at the age of 15, earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech, and then completed his Professional Engineer License in Civil Engineering. After serving the country he loved for 22 years in the United States Navy and retiring as a Lieutenant, Tom worked as an Engineer for Aramark, Saia, and eventually the Veterans Administration. Tom was often affectionately referred to as a loveable curmudgeon that charmed everyone he met and even earned the respect of those he disagreed with. He was a passionate man about everything in his life - learning, music, books, food, his community, and especially his family. Tom loved making people smile and made you feel like you had an instant friend. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his daughter Oakley (Joseph) Cortez; grandchildren, Seth Johnson and Ayla and Joss Cortez; siblings, Martha (Gerald) Sackett of Round Rock, TX; Harrel (Diana) Davis of El Paso, TX; Genia Davis of Lubbock, TX; Susan (Richard Pope) Davis of Lubbock, TX; and Richard (Penny Kuhn) Davis of Halifax, Nova Scotia; and his fiancé, Melanie McCurdie, of Calgary, Alberta.
