THURMAN SHORTY BROWN, Jr., age 90 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Monday May 3, 2010. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, he was the son of the Late Thurman and Macie Brinkley Brown, Sr. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mamie Davis Brown; sons, Larry Brown of Bell Buckle, TN and Wayne (Marilyn) Brown of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Patsy Douglas of Murfreesboro, TN , Ruth Viggins of Christiana, TN, and Carolyn (Curtis) Smotherman of Arrington, TN; grandchildren, David Douglas, Tony (Misty) Smotherman, Brandon Smotherman, Jeremy Brown, Kathy (Mark) Hollmann, and Teri Viggins; step-grandsons, Randy (Tonya) and Rusty (SueAnn) Jacobs; step-great grandchildren, Andrew, Alex, Tanner, Braden, and Natalie, and cousins. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Douglas Mitchell officiating. Mr. Brown was a WW II U.S. Army veteran and was in D-Day at Normandy. He was retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Forestry was also a retired farmer. Pallbearers will be Curtis, Tony, and Brandon Smotherman, David Douglas, Jeremy Brown, and Jackie Davis.
