DEATH NOTICE DEATH NOTICE FROM WOODFIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL THOMAS HARRIS DEMENT, age 81, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday February 3, 2010. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Joyce Ann Edmondson Dement who died on June 4, 1995. He was a native of Murfreesboro and the son of the late Thomas Justin and Janie Pearl Harris Dement. He was the step son of the late Cora Hamby Dement, his adopted Mother. His birth mother Janie Pearl Harris Dement passed away giving birth to her son July 19, 1928. The late Mort and Aliene Adams cared for him until the age of three in 1931 along with his devoted father, Thomas J. Dement, who married Miss Cora Hamby in 1931. Funeral service will be 2:00pm Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Pastor Kenneth Polk will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Thomas Justin II and Helen McBrayer Dement of Nashville, TN, daughter and son-in-law: Marilyn Diane and Moez BenZahra, of Washington, DC. He is survived by two grandchildren: Alexandra Grace Dement and Thomas Justin Dement III of Nashville, TN. Mr. Dement and his wife Joyce were charter members of the Northside Baptist Church.
