Terry Lee Freeman, age 73, of Murfreesboro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at his bedside on Monday, September 1, 2025. He was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee, and was a lifelong resident of Murfreesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Lee Freeman and Edith Louise Giles Freeman.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janice Elizabeth Freeman; his children, Lee Freeman and wife Andrea of Murfreesboro, Kenneth Freeman and wife Angela of Eagleville, and Kimberly Rendel and husband Chad of Barnardsville, North Carolina; and his beloved grandchildren, Alex, Kyndal, Eden, Nora, Ava, Anna, and Asher. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Clancy of Murfreesboro, along with extended family and many cherished friends.
Terry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following his military service, he earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and treasured the lifelong bonds he shared with his fraternity brothers. Terry enjoyed a long career in the automotive paint industry before retiring in 2019.
Above all, Terry was a man of deep faith and devotion to his family. He faithfully served in various church roles throughout his life and, for the past 25 years, was an active member of World Outreach Church. He was a kind, gentle, and loving Christian example of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Just weeks before his passing, he and Janice celebrated 46 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and faithfulness. His family gives thanks to God for his life and for the lasting legacy of love and faith he leaves behind.
Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, September 7, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The celebration of his life will follow on Monday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Manuel McGregor officiating. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
