Longtime state Probation Officer Tara Adriene Cannon, 57, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2023. An Atlanta, GA, native, Tara has lived in Murfreesboro since 1973. A 1983 Oakland High School graduate, she received a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lamar Cannon and Jean Cannon of Murfreesboro in 2017.

She is survived by a sister Angela Cannon Hayes (Michael) of Murfreesboro; a brother, Roy Gregory Cannon of Bradyville; Cousin Susan Cannon of Murfreesboro/Greenville, SC; and many other relatives and friends, including the Drewry family.

Tara has worked for the Tennessee Department of Correction in Murfreesboro for 30 years. She has suffered quietly with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy for the last several years. Prior to that, she enjoyed traveling, etc. Reading was her most recent joy.

Woodfin Funeral Chapels is in charge of arrangements. Private burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
