Susan Quarles Sanders, age 87, passed away on September 7, 2026. Born October 8, 1938, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Word Sanders and Virginia Byrn Sanders and her brother-in-law, Bob Huddleston. Susan is survived by her sister, Virginia Byrn Sanders Huddleston, of Murfreesboro; her nephew, Bobby Huddleston (Maria) of Ovilla, TX; her niece, Ginny Huddleston Secor (Evan) of Atlanta, GA; her great nephews, Robby Huddleston (Miranda) of Burleson, TX; Will Secor of Huntsville, AL, and Jim Secor of Atlanta, GA and great niece, Tiffany Mason (Jarred) of Waxahachie, TX. She was also blessed with three great-great nephews, Kalon Huddleston, Bentley Mason, and great-great niece, Raelynn Mason and cousin Brooks Hamilton and other cousins and friends.

Susan graduated from Central High School in the Class of 1956 and continued her education at the University of South Carolina, where she received her Secretarial Science Certificate in 1959. She returned to Murfreesboro to work at State Farm and Murfreesboro Electric Department until moving to Atlanta in 1967. In Atlanta, she worked as a reservationist for Delta Air Lines in their City Ticket Office. Susan was an avid traveler and moved into the travel agency business, where she started her own travel agency, Travel Network. She later sold that successful business and joined Georgia International Travel. During her time as a travel agent, Susan traveled the United States and the world, traveling to Africa, Asia, and beyond! After retiring, she returned home to Murfreesboro in 2001. Susan was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Charity Circle of Murfreesboro, where she served as Historian. She was a Lifetime member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Susan loved her nieces and nephews and their children as her own. She spent many holidays with all of them, and never tired of hearing them tell stories of their activities and adventures! She loved to take pictures of them all to fill her home and refrigerator! Susan loved sports, especially professional golf and her beloved, Atlanta Braves, even during the lean years. She and close friend, Lynne Holley, spent every May at the Masters Golf tournament in Augusta, GA for many, many years!

Visitation with the family will be at Woodfin Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 11:00 am until funeral services beginning at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro Building Fund or the Charity Circle of Murfreesboro.
