Mrs. Marion Sunya Porter Sprinkle, age 85, formerly of Smyrna, TN passed away Friday, June 4, 2021. She was born in Griffithville, AR to the late Monroe and Marion Reynolds Porter. Mrs. Sprinkle dedicated most of her energy during her lifetime to her family and friends. She was a passionate gardener, planting flowers and bushes in all areas of her yard. She was a skillful seamstress, providing beautiful dresses and even drapery for her daughters and nieces. In her later years she used this skill towards making wonderful quilts that she shared with daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Sprinkle was a member of Kedron United Methodist Church in Smyrna, TN.

Mrs. Sprinkle learned to play the piano when she was in her 20's. For her daughters to learn as well was of utmost importance to her. She taught piano for many years in Huntsville, AL as well in Fayetteville, TN. In her middle years, she opened a restaurant called The Bean Crock on Winchester Rd in Huntsville, AL. Her pies and daily specials were a big hit in the area. Mrs. Sprinkle was an excellent cook!

Mrs. Sprinkle is survived by her daughters, Leslie Hughes and her husband, Randy of New Port Richie, FL; Teresa Carnes of Powell, TN; and Kimberly Hopkins of Murfreesboro, TN;  grandchildren:  Daphne Holliman, Jonas Carnes, Jordan Carnes, Kathryn Woodford and her husband Ryan, Samantha Carney and her husband, Jon, and Matthew Johnson; great-grandchildren: Shelby Holliman, Liam Johnson, Zoe Johnson, and Emma Woodford; siblings: Daphne Fawnee Dinsmore-Jones and Keith Porter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles Edward Sprinkle, and a brother, Frank Porter.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00am local time at the Primitive Baptist Church in historic Cades Cove. Burial will follow the funeral behind the Primitive Baptist Church in historic Cades Cove.
