Stanley V. Phillips left us quietly Thanksgiving morning to enter his heavenly home, to the waiting arms of his daughter Rachael.

Stanley valiantly fought cancer for the past several years, and has shown such courage and grace. He was a testament to his faith and to the love of his family, and loyalty to his country, as he had retired from many years of service in the Navy as a recruiter. He also was retired from State of Tennessee Department of Human Resources. Married to his college sweetheart, Connie McClain Phillips for 37years,

Stanley was a devoted husband and father to three beautiful daughters Amy Lynn Tate of Murfreesboro, and Emily Ann Cone and husband Dallas of Smyrna and one beautiful granddaughter, Lea Tate. He is also survived by two brothers, James Phillips and wife Faith of Georgia, and Ross Phillips and wife Belinda of North Carolina.

Stanley was also preceded in death by his parents, James and Sara Barnes Phillips.

Connie and his daughters, Amy and Emily have been his best medicine as has his granddaughter Lea. They kept him full of love and encouragement.

Stanley was a special man with a heart of gold. He showed us all how kindness, love, faith, hope, and a sense of humor play the most important part of making life a success.

Funeral service will be 3:00PM Monday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Brother Tim Lavender will officiate. Private family graveside service will be 11:00AM Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Lawrence County. Visitation will be 2:00PM until 6:00PM Sunday at Woodfin Chapel,
Smyrna.
