Shirley Mae Garnand, age 72, died Friday October 22, 2010 at Community Care of Rutherford County. A native of Huntsville, Alabama she is preceded in death by her father Samuel Perkins. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Dr. Lenny Farmer will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 1:00 P.M. Mrs. Garnand is survived by her husband, Ken Garnand; daughter and son in law, Sherry (Curtis) Smith of Smyrna; sons and daughters in law, Kenneth Jeffrey (Gloria) Garnand of San Antonio, TX., and Michael (Saundra) Garnand of Petal, MS.; mother, Helen Claunch of North Redding, MA.; brothers, James Perkins of North Redding, MA., and Grady Perkins of Gurley, AL.; five grandchildren, Whitney and Kayla Smith and Jeffrey, Ashton and Tony Garnand, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Garnand was of the Methodist faith and was a retired pre-school teacher. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Association. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. 459-3254
