Selene Dismukes Woodson, age 95 of Murfreesboro died August 29, 2013 at Community Care of Rutherford County. She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Granville Summer and Margaret Smith Dismukes. Visitation will be 2:00PM Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services at 3:00PM Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. She is survived by her daughter Selene of West Point, Tennessee; granddaughters, Hannah Yocum and husband Mark of Summertown, Kelsey Luna and husband Virgil; one grandson, Cordell Luna all of Lawrenceburg; siblings Avent Dismukes of Murfreesboro, Freddie Dismukes and wife Nancy of Franklin, Laura Hooper of Waverly; Lucy Rice of Murfreesboro. She was preceded in death by her sister Adeline Behm; brothers, Zack Dismukes, Walter Dismukes, and G.S. Dismukes, Jr. She was a member of Rutherford County Historical Society, the Oakland Association, the Women's Club, and the Capt. William Lytle Chapter of The D.A.R. She was retired Federal Employee, and M.T.M.C. volunteer. She was acknowledged in several books as a resource on the history of Rutherford County. She was an active member and supporter of many nature and Rutherford County Historical organizations. Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Woodson to Sierra Club, National Parks Conservation Association, The Nature Conservancy, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and National Wildlife Federation.
