Sara Pearl Washburn Markum

Sara Pearl Washburn Markum, age 95 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026. A native of Decatur, AL, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Zora Henderson Washburn. Mrs. Markum was also preceded in death by her husband, Wade “Red” Markum, brothers, Ray and Lewis Washburn, and sisters, Ruby Battles, Ruthie Mae McRight, Lucille Hicks and Irene Lamon.

Mrs. Markum is survived by her daughter, Betty Harwell and her husband Bradley of Murfreesboro, TN; son, Billy Bowman and his wife Martha of Murfreesboro, TN; grandson, Will Bowman and his wife Summer of Lascassas, TN; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Scarlett Bowman of Lascassas, TN; her fur baby, Jill; several nieces and great-nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Margaret, Janet, and Tilda.

Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM following the visitation with Pastor Cody Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Markum was of the Baptist faith and retired from Chromalox after 34 years of service.
