Sara Louise Johns Thomson, age 91, went to be with her Lord on November 3, 2011 after a brief illness. A native of Rutherford County, she attended Walter Hill School and was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Ed Thomson, they were owners of Eds Antiques in Murfreesboro until his death in 2008. Daughter of the late Paul and Anna Jo Rucker Johns, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Bobby, Billy, Sam and Effie Bur Johns; sisters Rebecca Summar, Eunice Thomas, Rosaline Lannom, Polly Neely, Dot Jacobs, and Norma Jacobs. A life-long homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she is survived by her seven children, Edward Wayne Thomson, Larry (Hylania) Thomson of Readyville, Anna Lynn (Richard) Short of Murfreesboro, Sarah Dell (Charles) Bell of Milton, Rosaline (Ronnie) Knight of Murfreesboro, Joe (Elaine) Thomson of Lascassas and Polly (Roger) Lufkin of Milton; 13 grandchildren, Kim (Chris) Piety, David Wayne (Melanie) Short, Yvonne (Mike) Sanders, Ricky (Kristi) Thomson, Chuck (LaDonna) Bell, Missy (Chris) Hatfield, Rhonda (Chris) Rowland, Eric Lufkin, Jody (Stephanie) Short, Jay (Kelly) Thomson, Shelly Lufkin, Robyn (Chad) Smotherman and Kayla (Aaron) Tresnak; 17 great grandchildren, Lauren Piety, Jessica Piety, Alex Sanders, Summer Sanders, Zach Thomson, Zoey Thomson, Nathaniel Short, Sarah Short, CJ Hatfield, Walker Hatfield, Patty Hatfield, Will Bell, Grey Smotherman, Ethan Rowland, Oscar Rowland, Brandon Thomson, Camden Thomson; sister Freida (Tommy) Eades of Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Lascassas Church of Christ with Rev. Frank Lipetri and Bro. Ralph Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers; Chuck Bell, Chris Hatfield, Eric Lufkin, Chris Piety, Mike Sanders, David Short, Jody Short, Ricky Thomson, Jay Thomson, and Aaron Tresnak. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holly Grove Baptist Church Building Fund or charity of your choice.
