Samuel Luke Hendrix, age 89 of Murfreesboro passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was a native of Rockvale, TN and the son of the late Sam and Clara Nell Travis Hendrix. Funeral service will be 10:00am Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Deacon Pete Semich will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hildegard Hendrix, son, Phillip Stadler and his wife Janet of London, AR, Shirley Putz and her husband Don of Murfreesboro, grandchildren, Alex Stadler, Andrew Stadler, Janice Hoak, Troy Conner, Tracy Savage and Brian Wynn, 10 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many other loving family and friends. Mr. Hendrix was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and a US Navy WWII veteran. He then transferred into the US Army until he retired in 1972 having served in Vietnam. He was employed by the Alvin C. York VA Hospital from 1973 until retiring in 1990 as a Nursing Assistant. Memorials may be made to the Alvin C. York VA Hospice and to the Alzheimer's Association.
