SAMUEL S. BYERS, DDS, age 78 of Murfreesboro, died Monday January 4, 2009. A native of Lavonia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Samuel S. and Florence Garman Byers. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Reverend Mark Sappenfield will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Dr. Byers is survived by his Daughters Elizabeth Byers of Murfreesboro, Virginia (William) Kraus of N.C., Son Raymond (Amy) Byers of IN., Brother Theodore K. Byers of S.C., Sister Ellen Yost of MD, and 6 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Clare V. Byers, Brother Lloyd D. Byers, Sisters Elizabeth Pierce, and Druscilla Hartz. Dr. Byers served in the U. S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran and retired as a Colonel from the US Air Force. He worked as an Oral Surgeon and retired in 2007 as Chief of Dental Surgery from the Cleveland Veterans Administration Medical Center.
