Obituary

SAMMIE LOUISE CARLTON FARRIS, age 84 of Rockvale, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at MTMC. She is survived by a daughter, Nettie Ann (Randy) Throneberry of Shelbyville, son, William Hopkins (Sue) Farris of Pulaski, brothers, Charles (Hazel) Carlton of Tullahoma, James Alfred (Janice) Carlton of Shelbyville, five grandchildren, Barry Ryan Throneberry of Columbia, William Hopkins (Bethany) Farris, II of Rockvale, Beth (Mark) Sesler of Murfreesboro, Kelli (Michael) Lamb of Rockvale, and Samuel Jerome Farris of Nashville, and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Cox Farris, who died in 2004, infant daughter, Betty Jane Farris, her parents, Alfred Bell and Lonnie White Carlton, and sister, Annie Ruth Carlton. Mrs. Farris was an active member of the Rockvale Ruritan Club, Rockvale Family and Community Education Club, former president of the Rutherford County FCE Council, 4-H Club adult leader, choir member and teacher of the ladies Sunday School Class of Eagleville Baptist Church of which she was a member for 74 years. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother Barry Throneberry and Brother Ben Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Nance, Buddy Nance, Jim Thompson, Kevin Elrod, Ellis Wright, and Edmund Wright.
