SAM NIPPER age 86 of Murfreesboro, died Thursday at his home. Mr. Nipper was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late Will D. and Willie Compton Nipper. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Derrick Hartley will officiate. Burial will be in the Coleman Cemetery. Mr. Nipper is survived by a daughter, Judy Murphy of Chapmansboro, TN; brother, Ben Robert Nipper; sister, Mattie Martin; sister in law, Ola Dement all of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren, Veronica Upchurch, Michelle McClure, Pete Jacobs, Valarie Edmondson, Chris Jacobs, and Lee McClure; 12 great grandchildren and six great -great grandchildren. Mr. Nipper was preceded in death by Willie Mae Burnett Nipper who died in July 30, 2009, a daughter Carolyn Jacobs, three brothers, and three sisters. Mr. Nipper formerly employed by the L & N Railroad, Tennessee Department of Transportation, Tennessee Paving, and retired from the Rutherford County Convenient Center Department in May of this year. He was a member of Taylors Chapel Baptist Church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
