Ruth Frances Rion, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to her Father, Our Lord, on September 20th, 2011 in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo, Indiana. Ruth was born the daughter of Charles and Dora Lannom Robertson on December 1st, 1920 in the Murfreesboro, TN, Mona Community. Ruth was the 2nd of three children born to Charles and Dora, with one older sister Sara, and one younger brother, Maurice. Ruth was raised in the Mona community on a family farm. Ruth married Robert A. Rion on January 18th, 1937. Ruth and Robert made their home in the Jefferson Spring area where of this union two children were born, Frances Elaine and James Everett. Ruth was devoted to family and church throughout her 90 years of life on this earth. Ruth was a member of Stones River Baptist Church from 1969 to present. Ruth was active with the church as part of the kitchen committee and active in the seniors group Young at Heart for many years. Ruth worked at Pic-N-Pay, approximately 15 years with her beloved friend, Mildred Zimmerman. Ruth retired in June of 2000. Known lovingly as Mama Ruth she was known for her belief in God, positive attitude, kindness to others, and talents of sewing and cooking; especially her chocolate pies and blackberry cobbler. She loved being involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lives. Mama Ruth will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Ruth is survived by her son James Rion and wife Tina of Smyrna, TN; three grandchildren, Jerry Johnson and wife Margaret of Kokomo, IN, John Alley and wife Kara of Stafford, VA, and Angelica Rion of Smyrna, TN; and four great-grandchildren, Cole and Kate Johnson and Arissa and Emma Alley. Ruth was preceded in death by husband Robert, daughter Frances, parents Charles and Dora, sister Sara and brother Maurice. Visitation with be held at Stones River Baptist Church at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 24, 2011, followed by services at 12:00 PM. Brother Barney Rickman will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery in Smyrna, TN. Memorials may be made to Stones River Baptist Church.
